I was able to reach out to Jacqueline, and I have left a voicemail and an email message for her, hoping she will get back to me regarding the request for a Meal Train. I no longer feel like I’m stuck between a rock and a hard place with this matter, and I’m praying that things will work out for the best for both families in need.

1st time on Duty… https://deacons.endif.ws/2024/08/26/1st-time-on-duty/ Mon, 26 Aug 2024 20:32:09 +0000 https://deacons.endif.ws/?p=977 …and still learning, apparently.

Someone approached me yesterday immediately after first service and relayed to me that a woman named Jacqueline Miller has just taken in a foster boy and is requesting a Meal Train. I made the mistake of not asking for the phone number, so all I can do is wait and see if Cora can track down a mutual acquaintance or for the woman who approached me (forgive me, I didn’t know who that was) to call back and follow up on this matter. Because it was not a request for financial assistance, I did not default to the form, which I had a copy of, with me at the time.

I don’t know who Jacqueline Miller is, and assumed she was a Fremont member or at least affiliated with the church enough that her phone number would have been available on the records, but it wasn’t. I am currently awaiting further information so I can fill out a request for a meal train on the Miller family’s behalf. I know now, to make sure I always get a name and phone number of the person in need and a name/phone number of the person who left the tip if it’s someone else, until I can fill out a request form accordingly.

Thinking back, I’m wondering if it was Owen who approached me, whose adoption proceeding for her son I had attended. No guarantees there, though.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Moreover, I also received an email with a request for financial assistance for Pamela Capelletti, a Fremont member, as she is currently out of work (and looking), had recent surgery, and is taking care of two family members. I have passed on the request form with her information and am currently awaiting a decision on Pamela’s behalf.
New to this, Tried to contact ESP https://deacons.endif.ws/2024/03/31/new-to-this-tried-to-contact-esp/ Sun, 31 Mar 2024 15:56:12 +0000 https://deacons.endif.ws/?p=967 Hello, Happy Easter to all! 💐
I tried to contact my ESP, Sue Arwood, last Wednesday and also this morning, and there was no answer either time, so I could only leave a voicemail. I hope she is all right. I touched bases with her briefly during church service or just after, a couple of Sundays ago. I left a voicemail today saying there would be a lily for her and that I hope to see her at second service.
P.S. I’m not sure why it has a time stamp of 3:56pm, first service is about to start.
Deacons Volunteer to help Upward Basketball https://deacons.endif.ws/2023/04/07/deacons-volunteer-to-help-upward-basketball/ Fri, 07 Apr 2023 14:34:37 +0000 https://deacons.endif.ws/?p=774 From Cat Volmer
When Upward Basketball season was approaching, I connected with Dave Witte to see if there was going to be a snack bar. Dave was clear that he wanted one, but he was not able to take on the organization required to get it up and running. I was willing to do the purchasing but also did not want the responsibility of organizing everything. So we went forward, assuming someone would come forward and organize the volunteers. But, God had different plans and I ended up pushing the snack bar sign-up sheet that was created by Irene Harris.
When I signed up for this, I thought I was just providing snacks to players and parents. I didn’t think I would be as blessed as I was. It turns out Upward season was happening right in the middle of a very stressful time and it gave me something else to think about. I needed the Upward snack bar way more than it needed me. I needed the smiles of kids getting their sugar high. I needed kids coming over and asking to have things for free. I needed to do the shopping and replenish the supplies. I didn’t realize it, but I was craving being in charge of something when my whole world outside of Upward felt so chaotic and out of control.
I knew I was going to hand out candy, take money, create change, cheer for players, and restock items. I didn’t however expect the excitement coming from the kids. One little boy came around the corner in the CLC, saw the snack bar, and yelled at the top of his lungs, “it’s back. The snack bar is back. It’s a miracle! Hallelujah!” What I didn’t know is that people, from outside of the church would come to me asking about Fremont. One particular gentleman asked me if he could talk to someone. After pushing a little further I found out he had some questions and he did not feel comfortable going to the pastors in his home church. I was able to give him Fremont’s information and encourage him to connect call the office.
In true God fashion, I agreed to buy supplies and ended up being the lead on the whole thing. It turns out that you can be blessed by handing out candy to kids and adults. It turns out God puts things in your path exactly when you need it most. It was an honor to be used by in this way, it blessed me far more than I ever imagined, and I can’t wait to do it all again for Volleyball season!
Transportation Committee https://deacons.endif.ws/2022/04/02/transportation-committee/ Sat, 02 Apr 2022 23:46:29 +0000 https://deacons.endif.ws/2022/04/02/understanding-the-differences-of-good-and-great-design/ The Transportation Committee manages ride resources from Volunteer members, as well as commercial type of rides such as Lyft or Uber and Cabs.
These resources are matched up to the ride requests which can be submitted through the Fremont Presbyterian website.
To request a ride, please use this link to direct your request to the appropriate Deacon committee and you will receive a contact back from the resource assigned.
Thank you so much for considering to serve as a driver for members at Fremont who need rides to services, bible studies, church wide events, or medical appointments. It provides a much needed service to these people. Please view the training video below and review the Fremont Transportation Policy and the Fremont Transportation Guidelines and COVID Policy, then fill out the application. We will need to run a current background check on volunteer drivers if the church does not already have one on file for you.
