Fremont Deacons https://deacons.endif.ws Key Information for Deacons Mon, 09 Dec 2024 16:56:20 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.7.1 What’s a Meal Train? https://deacons.endif.ws/whats-a-meal-train/ Tue, 27 Aug 2024 13:57:30 +0000 https://deacons.endif.ws/?page_id=986 Meal Train is a way of matching up folks who need a little extra support with meals during a time of difficulty in their lives. It’s entered on the website MealTrain.com, which allows the posting of a Recipients’ needs and a calendar of the days which need to have meals provided. In this calendar, Volunteers to schedule deliveries on specific days. This way, the meal deliveries will not be duplicated, but supplied on the appropriate days that the Recipient has selected.

Fremont Deacons are here to help facilitate this connection. The Meal Train Deacon will create the Meal Train entry on the MealTrain.com site. After creating the posting, the Meal Train Deacon will promote the posting and the need to the other Deacons and whatever other groups or connections the Recipient has indicated. This promotion is really important, as volunteers will not have any idea there is a need unless is comes up in their email or other social media.

To get all this working, the Meal Train Deacon needs the following information:

  • Submitter’s name and email (this may also be the Recipient)
  • Recipient’s name, email, phone, and the delivery address
  • Dates and Time of day that delivery is requested
  • Preferred meals or restaurants
  • Foods, restaurants, or meals which should not be delivered (least favorite)
  • Dietary restrictions or allergies
  • Number of mouths to feed – both adults and children
  • What’s going on in their lives that causes the need
  • What other groups that the Recipient may be connected to, a list of Fremont congregation names, family members or other folks that the notice should be posted to

If you’ve gathered all this information, now you’re ready to submit the request to the Meal Train Deacon. Thank you for helping to gather the pertinent information. Please be aware that the Meal Train Deacon may contact the Recipient for any additional information that he/she may need.

Please click the link below to submit the request.

It provides a much needed service to these people. Please view the training video below and review the Fremont Transportation Policy and the Fremont Transportation Guidelines and COVID Policy, then fill out the application. We will need to run a current background check on volunteer drivers if the church does not already have one on file for you.

Card/Grief Committee https://deacons.endif.ws/2022/04/02/card-grief-committee/ Sat, 02 Apr 2022 23:46:27 +0000 https://deacons.endif.ws/2022/04/02/why-white-space-and-typography-matter-in-minimal-design/ The primary purpose of the Card Committee is to reach out to Fremont Faith Community members who are actively grieving the loss of a loved one or in need of prayer or encouragement. This committee also provides grief support.

The priority each week is to send cards to those that have lost a loved one, or those that are ill, suffering, or in need of prayer.  If Deacons have the time, cards may also be sent to members for a variety of other reasons:  Just to say “Hello” or “Happy Birthday”, or to veterans saying “Thank you for your service” are a few examples.

To request a card to be sent to someone who could use some support, please use the “Contact Us” form and your request will be forwarded to the appropriate person.
